What's Happening in Hewlett, NY…

List shows Long Island to be putting the hours in

A list from Movato.com has recently released its top 10 hardest working places in New York State. Rockville Centre, just outside of Hewlett, has topped the list on Long Island and is the fourth hardest working location in the state.

Cities and towns along the south shore of Long Island dominated the list, with an additional four communities in the top 10. Tying in sixth place were Floral Park and Lynbrook, ninth was Massapequa Park, and tenth was the City of Long Beach.

The report says that workers in Rockville Centre commute an average of 36 minutes a day and work about 39.8 hours a week. There are just over 24,000 residents in the town and, according to the report, more than 93% of them are employed. With a median household income in the town of $104,023, some in the area may well feel the extra hours are worthwhile.

Other towns on Long Island that just missed the top 10 were Garden City, Valley Stream, Freeport, and Hempstead.

Movato.com uses cost of living, household income, unemployment rates, average time spent commuting, and average hours worked per week in order to come up with its lists.

In keeping with the industrious nature of the area, print companies here are likely to be finding themselves with demands for business card printing.
