Hofstra to honor lacrosse student-athlete
The Hofstra Pride Golf Classic and Auction, held by Hofstra University, will be recognizing Bob Quinlan of the Department of Athletics. The annual event will be at the Seawane Club in Hewlett Harbor next month.
Vice President and Director of Athletics at Hofstra University, Jeffrey A. Hathaway, said that Quinlan was a student-athlete at the school but has been active with the Men's Lacrosse program at Hofstra and the athletic program overall since he graduated. He has since become successful in business and active in his giving back to his community.
Quinlan played lacrosse while at Hofstra and during his senior year was captain of the team. At this time, he was selected to the North-South All-Star Game and named a USILA All-American. He was an assistant coach in 1984 while he was still a student.
Since 1989, Quinlan has worked in the insurance agency and, since 2007, has been president of Quinlan Insurance Services Inc., his own property and casualty insurance agency. Quinlan is a cancer survivor and dedicates time and effort to various cancer-related charitable organizations.
The event will be held on Monday, September 19 beginning at 10:00 am. The Hofstra Athletics Department will most likely hire a local print company to print invitations to the event and a program guide, featuring a schedule of activities and sponsorship donations.
