Hewlett walk to explore connection between plants and people
A walk planned for amateur horticulturalists from Hewlett and the surrounding communities will explore the relation between humans and plant in depth.
Participants in the Meadow Mythology Walk outing will be visiting the Naval Cemetery Landscape, where the guide for the walk will discuss the history of the plants encountered, as well as other flora species. Both sunscreen and bottled water are highly recommended for the attendees, and the run time for the outdoor session is one hour.
While the walkers explore the site during this free excursion, they will learn how to develop a connection between themselves and the natural world through plants. Their current and historical uses will be reviewed, and as they go, the registrants will be reminded to keep their eyes open for a plant they would like to cover in the guided journal activity that will follow the outing.
A guided walk gives the public a chance to learn, and can also be a lot of fun. These may be included in the community guides often produced by printing services companies to provide to those who live in a particular area.
The Naval Cemetery Landscape in West Brooklyn will be welcoming this group of intrepid nature explorers on Saturday, July 8. It will depart from the meeting point at 2:00 pm.
