Hewlett offers emergency preparedness training

When it comes to community safety, Hewlett believes everyone has a role to play, and a local workshop will help those who take part hit the ground running should a natural disaster occur.

The Hewlett-Woodmere Public Library will be offering the opportunity to attend a session of the NY Citizen Preparedness Training initiative. Held in the venue’s Boehm room in early September, it is being presented by the NY National Guard.

The activity will explore how, since disasters have become more frequent, it is more important than ever for the general public be prepared in advance. It will be focused not only on preparation but also recovery, so that life can return to normal as quickly as possible. Everyone will learn how to prepare a family emergency plan and also what supplies to stock up on.

Community safety is an area where the general public can play a significant role. Promotional Products such as small crank flashlights, safety supply checklists, fridge magnets with important contact numbers, and other items to distribute as swag can be prepared by area Print shops.

This chance to learn what to do should Hewlett experience a natural disaster emergency will run from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm on Monday, September 8. Everyone is asked to arrive by no later than the 7:00 pm scheduled start time.
