Hewlett to offer online cartoon tutorials

People who want to learn to draw can attend virtual tutorials throughout August provided by the Hewlett-Woodmere Public Library.

The business Drew’z Cartoonz will be holding multiple online courses to teach children and teens how to replicate famous cartoons. This month, students will learn how to draw in the styles of The Simpsons, Rick and Morty, Archie, and Bone. Those who partake in the lesson should have paper, pencils, and markers at the ready. Students interested in coloring their creations are recommended to bring chalk pastels. Teachers can advertise classes like this by using poster printing to create promotional materials.

Drew’z Cartoonz is a service created by the artist Andrew Traficante, who is known for creating caricatures of people during special events like birthdays. Clients who work with Traficante can either sit in front of him for a traditional caricature experience or submit a photograph to use as a reference. He also teaches people of all ages how to draw and helps non-profit organizations raise awareness for causes like rescuing animals and cancer.

The drawing tutorials will be held every Tuesday throughout August from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Those who wish to draw alongside Traficante can register on the Hewlett-Woodmere Public Library’s site. Once patrons register for the class, they will be given a confirmation email that has additional information about joining the meeting.
