Hewlett library to hold reception for art exhibit
Art enthusiasts are welcome to attend a reception this February at the Hewlett-Woodmere Library for its newest art exhibit.
During January and February, the community can visit the Hewlett-Woodmere library to see pieces created by the artist Michael Albert. Albert is an American pop artist who is widely known for his work in ‘Cerealism’, which is what he has named his collection of collages made from pieces of cereal boxes. He has used many brands in his collages, including Frosted Flakes, Apple Jacks, and Golden Crisps.
Albert was born in 1966 and became an artist while attending New York University. He initially started out making doodles and wax oil drawings, which eventually led to him creating large-scale collages that cover multiple themes. He founded a traveling art program that teaches children how to make collages and attends art-related festivals. Artists like Albert who have educational programs can use printing services to advertise their classes at community venues.
The reception for the new art exhibit will be held on Saturday, February 15 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm in the Boehm Meeting Room. Those who are interested in seeing Albert’s pieces can visit the exhibit until Thursday, February 27. He also has an online shop where people can purchase merchandise related to his past works, like puzzles and greeting cards.
