Hewlett kids invited to bring unidentified artifacts to city museum
The American Museum of Natural History wants to inspire curiosity with free identifications of found treasures.
Identification Day at the AMNH allows children to meet with the professionals at the museum to have any of their found natural items identified. The experts want to see items like shells and rocks, as well as bones, feathers, or even interesting insects. Any child with an item found in Hewlett that they would like to learn more about should bring it with them to this event.
In addition, the children can also browse the many artifacts housed at the museum and take photos of themselves with these artifacts or their own items for future school reports or other printing services. The event takes its inspiration from the legacy of President Teddy Roosevelt, whose love of the natural world led him to realize the need for protected land and helped to set up the National Park System.
Admission to the museum found at Central Park West at 79th Street on the day of the event includes a pass to Identification Day. It will take place on Saturday, June 16. The event begins at noon and lasts until the close of the museum at 5:45 pm. General admission is $13 per person for children aged 2 – 12, $18 for seniors and students, and $23 for adults.
