Hewlett introduces kids to gardening
Locals can celebrate the annual open house at the Queens Botanical Garden with a day of gardening education designed for children.
The free event is designed to encourage youngsters to get excited about working with nature and growing a garden of their own. The botanical garden offers programs throughout its open season for children as young as two, and up to age 14. This free session can help children and parents to learn more about what the programs teach and to see if this is a hobby each child finds interesting. The children will have the opportunity at the open house to take part in garden-inspired crafts and to do some planting of their own.
Parents can bring their cameras and get photos for their own printing services. The Queens Botanical Garden may also take photographs of the participants, but only uses the images with permission from the parent.
All Hewlett residents and those in the surrounding area are welcome to the event, but the garden staff requires that participants respect the gardens and act in a respectful manner towards all other guests at the garden. All children must be accompanied by an adult guardian.
The open house is Saturday, March 24 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Queens Botanical Garden on 43-50 Main Street in Flushing. Register for the event on Eventbrite.
