Hewlett area workshop to share pollinator tips
Bees and butterflies are widely known to be efficient and effective pollinators, but an upcoming learning activity will introduce people to others that are not as well known.
The Hewlett area will be playing host to a class that will explore the diverse group of insects and other animals that serve as pollinators, and it will explain how some plants have adapted their flower shape and timing to a specific species. Admission is free, and it will be held at The Battery Park Urban Farm.
The plans for the activity include a tour of the site’s perennial beds, and as they go, the group will learn how to identify different insects, birds, bats, and other animals that aid in pollination. Everyone will walk away with resources they can use in their own garden, and as the function will be held outdoors rain or shine, everyone is reminded to dress for the weather.
Gardening gives the public an opportunity to do a good turn for the environment, and workshops give both experienced and newbie gardeners alike a chance to learn. A brochure printing company can prepare educational materials to distribute during an activity.
Everyone who registers for the Gardening for Pollinators activity is asked to be on site at The Battery Park Urban Farm by no later than 10:00 am on June 14. Tickets for the function go on sale this Saturday, May 14.
