Film festival hits Long Beach screens
The third annual Long Beach International Film Festival is underway, with various events and showings taking place in Long Beach and Rockville Centre, which is just outside of Hewlett.
No doubt organizers of the event are turning to flyer printing services to distribute handouts with more information about specific activities and film times.
According to the manager of Long Beach City, Jack Schnirman, the festival was widely acclaimed during its first two years and has been expanded for this year. He adds that is now a tradition in the city and both residents and visitors are already planning the events they will attend.
The opening day was yesterday, July 30, with two special programs in the line-up. The first was an invitation-only workshop for filmmakers hosted by the New York State Governors Film Office to learn the tips, tricks, and secrets of the trade at the Grumman Movie Studios in Bethpage.
Yesterday also saw the world’s first showing of ‘Wisdom to Know the Difference’, starring William Baldwin and directed by his brother Daniel. The screening took place in Bethpage at Molloy College and featured an exclusive questions-and-answer session after the film with Daniel Baldwin, along with his cast and crew.
At 6:00 pm this evening, as part of Throwback Thursday, there will be a showing of the musical ‘Grease’ at Nickerson Beach. Films continue up until Monday, August 4.
