Event honors fundraisers for diabetes program

Winthrop-University Hospital recently recognized Ashley Randall from Port Washington, a town just north of Hewlett, by giving her the Youth Achievement Award for her fundraising efforts to help find a cure for diabetes.

She received her award at the Inn at New Hyde Park at the Bite of Hope Dinner, which the Winthrop Pediatric Diabetes Program has held for the past four years. The achievements of Westbury pair Jeffrey and Carol Rosenking were also recognized at the event, which raised $52,000.

The emcee for the evening was Sophia Hall of CBS News and entertainment was provided by Maximilian Sisalli. Randall was introduced by Joseph Lannig, who praised her for what she has done to raise money for the program.

Jean Corrigan, Pediatric Diabetes Program Director of Winthrop-University Hospital, celebrated the Rosenkings including daughter Taylor, for adding to the program with their personal commitment and generosity towards the program’s educational efforts and medical care.

The Winthrop Pediatric Diabetes Program was established in 2002 and provides treatment and care for children, adolescents, and young adults with diabetes in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, as well as providing educational services in these areas.
