Children activities and monthly talk at local library
Several events for young children are scheduled this week at the Hewlett-Woodmere Public Library.
Parents and their two-year-old children can enjoy songs, stories, and finger plays designed to develop early reading skills and support their young curious minds. This half-hour session begins this morning (January 27) at 10:00 am in the Story Hour room.
Then, from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm, there will be stories and music presented by Erica Brown for children between the ages of 6 and 23 months. Preschool story time will be from 4:00 pm to 4:30 pm that day. Children can explore new books that are designed to increase their interest in reading.
In addition, the Friends of the Library will be sponsoring a talk on ‘Great Decisions - Middle East: Shifting Alliances’ by Stanislao Pugliese, a history professor and the UNICO Distinguished Professor of Italian American Studies and Italian at Hofstra University. Harvard and Columbia Universities, Oxford University, and the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. are also among the sites at which he has served as a research fellow. His talk begins at 7:30 pm in the Boehm Meeting Room this evening, and is part of a monthly series.
Booklet printing has been used to create an item with a list of upcoming talks, with their titles, topics, and dates. This is currently available at the library.
