Brooklyn Junior Entrepreneur Workshop open to Hewlett youth

A free four-month long pilot program will aim to help children develop the skills to make their entrepreneurial dreams a reality.

The organizer of the workshop Brooklyn Junior Entrepreneur Workshop is offering a free informational event where interested parents and children can learn more about the program and register to take part in the workshop. The direction provided will teach children about more than branding and business cards. The subjects included are social media marketing, business management, and market research and product development. The subjects will lead children through the process of conceptualizing, creating, and expanding a business.

There is no cost to take part in the workshop, but the parents must commit to helping their children with the effort. Each parent is expected to engage in some fundraising activities, aid their child with homework assignments, and volunteer to help with at least one class. The program will launch in early March.

Children that wish to attend should be between the ages of 10-17, have the ability to work comfortably alone and with a group, and have parental permission to use social media. The classes will be held on Saturdays and last for four hours.

Seating is limited for the workshop. Anyone interested in learning more can register at the Eventbrite website for the informational meeting. The meeting will take place on February 23 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm at the Brooklyn Public Library – Macon Branch at 361 Lewis Avenue in Brooklyn.
