Teachers, parents who homeschool their children, and any other interested educators in the Flemington area are invited to take part in a workshop designed to help them learn more about the value and ecology of wetlands, and also how to pass this information along to the people they teach.
The Hunterdon County Division of Parks and Recreation will be playing host to a daylong session that will cover the curriculum guide for Wonders of Wetlands (WOW). The cost for the event is $15, which will include the guide to the WOW curriculum, and also a lunch.
The facilitator for the training will be Kevin Kopp, who is the New Jersey Facilitator for a variety of workshops offered through the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.
Those who take part in the program will be give ideas about how best to deliver it to their students. This will include lesson plans and projects that will engage the students, and they will also receive an in-depth education about wetlands that they can pass along to those they teach. A graphic design company can design a variety of materials that can be distributed to those who take part to supplement what they learned during the workshop.
The event is scheduled to take place on October 22 in the Main Lodge of Echo Hill Park. Formal educators will be given professional development credits for completing the instruction provided. Anyone who would like to find out more is invited to call 908-782-1158
