Residents of Flemington will have seen the recent installation of Signs that indicate that the project to reconfigure the traffic circle at which Routes 202, 12, and 31 meet has begun.
The revamp, which comes with a price tag of $11.1m, includes the hiring of Green Construction to place the signage and construction barriers in order to get ready for the first phase of the plan, which will begin over the next few weeks.
Those who drive through the area may notice delays throughout, which will affect Route 202 and Route 31, as well as Route 12. Every attempt will be made to ensure that at least two lanes are open during both the evening and morning rush hours during the length of the project, which is expected to last until spring of 2018.
Funding for the upgrades comes from both the state and federal governments, and the enhancements will include a variety of measures to ease traffic congestion and reduce the speed at which the traffic is moving. Part of the plan includes new signs and traffic signals, and the public will receive advanced notice about the changes as they are made.
