Local businesses, organizations, and individuals are being invited to take part in this years’ Relay for Life of Hunterdon County, which is scheduled to be held at the Hunterdon Central Regional High School outdoor track in Flemington.
The goal of the event is for participants to form teams who will raise money for the American Cancer Society. It is held at different locations throughout the country, with the monies collected going to help fund cancer research, education, and prevention campaigns. Poster printing firms can create materials to let the public know about the relay and to encourage them to take part themselves.
The teams who take part will be invited to set up a campsite at which they can relax and socialize between taking turns walking round the track. One person from each team will be walking at any given time.
Those who have battled cancer and their caregivers will be encouraged to walk the first lap in celebration of their lives and those of the people they helped. The theme of this year’s event is ‘Walking Through History: Three Decades of Hope’, as it is the 30th year that it has been held.
The organizers of the relay expressed thanks to all of those who sponsored their efforts, especially Jersey Mike’s, who will be donating sandwiches for the Kick Off Event, which is scheduled to begin on June 13.
