The Flemington area has a rich history that dates back to before the nation’s founding. Local amateur historians and anyone else who would like to discover the origins of Quakertown will soon be able to do so when they take their seat for an upcoming presentation.
Area historian and author, Marty Campanelli, has put together a review of the history of Quakertown, starting with its roots back in the early 1700s. A request has been made that anyone who would like to participate register ahead of time, as this will aid the planners in making the arrangements for the session.
The presentation will explore the history of the community including the role, or lack thereof, that it played in the Revolutionary War. There will also be a review of the impact of the arrival of people of other faiths had on the town, the social life its citizens enjoyed and also its community of trades people, its schools and notable residents.
Once the audio-visual portion of the evening is over, attendees will be invited to linger over refreshments and discuss what they have learned. A printing services company can supply Copies of slides that were included in the PowerPoint shown during this sort of occasion, which can be distributed to those who took part.
This opportunity to learn more about the area’s rich history will be offered by the Hunterdon Tricentennial Committee on May 7th. The plan is for it to be held in Flemington in the Main Branch of the County Library.
