Flemington runners and walkers who care about their community have been asked to hit the road in an event that will help to keep area food pantry shelves filled.
The ShopRite of Hunterdon County Race for Hunger will give the public a fun way to lend a hand to those in need, and both run and walk options are on the agenda. Those who are interested will be able to walk, run or roll their way along with an assistive device such as a wheelchair, walker, or rollator, and the whole family is invited to get involved in this community service project.
The registration fee for both options is $20, and the proceeds will be donated to Norwescap Food Bank. Awards will be presented to the top male and female finishers in a variety of age groups, and professional chip timing is available for anyone who would like to challenge themselves. Both routes offer scenic views, and check-in will open an hour before the run and walk start time.
The organizers noted that everyone who registers will receive a T-shirt with the fundraiser’s Logo Design, and refreshments will be served. Prize draws have been planned.
This chance to join with friends and family while making sure everyone has nutritious food on their table will take place on September 19. The staging area will be set up in Deer Path Park.
