For some, New Year's Day may be a time for rest and recovery from the night before, biut a group of Flemington riders will be hitting the road for the 15th annual New Year's Day Hangover Ride.
On January 1, the registrants for the activity will gather ahead of the ride to enjoy some light refreshments and camaraderie. Bagels will be served, and coffee and a selection of hangover “cures” such as bloody Marys will be poured. As 2023 will be the 15th year for the activity, T-Shirts with a special graphic design will be available for purchase.
At noon, the kickstands will go up and the attendees will enjoy a 45-minute-long escorted ride, but the length may need to be adjusted depending on the weather. At the end of the run, a hot buffet dinner will be served, and everyone can mix and mingle.
This activity, while it is intended to be fun, will also have a larger purpose. It will raise money for the Community Hope of New Jersey Hope for Veterans program. Tickets are $15, and more details can be obtained by calling 908-725-1717.
The Manville-Hillsborough Elks BPOE 2119 has organized this warm welcome to 2023 for January 1. Sign-in for the ride starts at 10:00 am, and its staging area can be found at 1500 Brooks Boulevard.
