Flemington outdoor workshop to talk turkeys

While many children are familiar with barnyard turkeys, they may not realize their wild relatives live in the forests around Flemington, and a workshop will introduce toddlers to these feathered friends.

Echo Hill Park will serve as the location for a Tot Walk, and the theme of the activity will be “Turkeys.” To accommodate as many children as safely as possible, the organizers explained there are four sessions to choose from, and they will each run for 45 minutes.

Each of the sessions will have room for seven kids, and they must each have an adult with them. Laura Bush, who is a Senior Park Naturalist, will guide the toddlers through an assortment of learning activities as they walk, and when it is time to head for home, they will each receive a craft kit to take along with them. The registration fee for each boy or girl is $5.

The organizers of a child-centered activity like this often choose to set up activity stations along the way. Print shops will be able to prepare signage to use for these, and if requested, they may be laminated so that they will be protected from the elements when used outdoors.

This learning opportunity for Flemington toddlers is scheduled to visit Echo Hill Park on November 17 and 18. Parents or guardians are encouraged to sign up now, choosing the timeslot that is best for their personal schedule.
