While many people know that each species of tree has its own special leaf shape, they may not realize this isn't the only way they can be easily identified. A local expert will lead an excursion at Duke Farms that will explore other determining characteristics in detail.
Jack Kuhlman, who is a licensed tree expert, will give local nature lovers on a hike that will allow them to develop a deeper connection with the nature that is all around them. As they go, he will teach different methods that can be used to identify trees and other plants found in Flemington.
The group will be walking for several miles, and those who plan on participating are reminded to wear comfortable boots or shoe, and to dress for the weather. Sunscreen, bug repellent, and a bottle of water are also recommended.
Kuhlman will teach the group how they can use bark, buds, leaves, outlines and other characteristics to help determine which species a tree might be.
