An upcoming training session planed for the Flemington area will ensure that those involved in firefighting keep awareness and preparedness at the forefront in the performance of their duties.
The seminar, which has been titled ‘Combat Ready Firefighting’, will address the issue and effects of complacency in firefighters, and it will also give them tools they can use to prevent this from happening. Participants will learn how to be mentally and physically prepared, and they will also receive tips about the care of their equipment.
The instruction will include several real life scenarios that the instructor has faced in his own firefighting experience. Factors such as being ‘in position’, personal attitude, tool selection for the truck company, hose line and engine setup, and pre-incident preparation will be discussed.
The workshop has been organized by the Sergeantsville Volunteer Fire Company, and is being facilitated by Traditions Training. It will run from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm, and lunch will be served. A supplier of printing services can be called upon to provide bound manuals and other instructional materials for those who take part.
The day of training will be held on December 3 at the Sergeantsville Volunteer Fire Company. The cost to participate is $55. More information is available on the seminar’s website.
