Flemington kids who want to get to know their fine feathered friends a little bit better can do so when they participate in a kid-sized workshop set up to help future ornithologists to find their wings and fly.
The Junior Ornithologist initiative, which has been developed by Duke Farms, will give elementary school age children an introduction to birds, and local species and exotic ones will both be included. They will explore avian biology as well as their ecology and habitats, and the group will take part in activities inside and outdoors.
The November session of the program will investigate the life of wild turkeys, and it will begin indoors. The kids will learn about these birds and what makes them different to their domesticated cousins. They will find out how they live, what they eat, and how they raise a family, and the group will also learn about how they communicate, including practicing their very own turkey calls.
Stationery printers will be able to supply activity sheets that combine fun with learning, and these can be given to each of the participants to take home with them at such events.
The November session of Duke Farms’ Junior Ornithologists has been scheduled for November 17. Each child must be accompanied by an adult. It is set to be held at 1112 Dukes Pkwy W in Hillsborough.
