The world of insects can often prove fascinating to a child, and a Flemington area event will see kids being introduced to entomology through a variety of activities that have been planned to be both educational and fun.
The Junior Entomologists program will give youngsters a chance to use a variety of equipment to learn about insects in the air, water and on the land. They will gain experience with nets, field guides, microscopes and other tools, and the activities will be hands-on.
Each of the sessions will be divided between time indoors and time out in the field. The classes will run from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm once a month, and each will have a different theme. Parents are welcome to attend with their child, and as the class will be held rain or shine, they are reminded to make sure their son or daughter is dressed appropriately for the weather.
These events are geared for those who are from kindergarten to grade six, and each registrant must be accompanied by an adult. The registration fee is $20 per child. Local Print shops can provide field guides, coloring and activity sheets, and any other printed items needed for this type of occasion.
These sessions of insect-themed fun will be offered by Duke Farms in Hillsborough. The first will be held on July 29th, and its Facebook page can be consulted by anyone who requires more information.
