More people are becoming interested in inviting nature into their home, and a Flemington area class will teach how easy it can be to add some moss-based beauty to their home or other setting.
Known to some as an example of “biophilic design”, moss walls use preserved mosses and lichens to create nature-based works of art. These may help people feel more connected to the living world around them, especially since each one is unique.
Those who register for the session will prepare their own moss wall measuring 8.5” by 11” in size, and all of the materials for the project will be included in the ticket price. They come in a wide assortment of types, colors, textures, and sizes, and other preserved items such as sticks and leaves will be provided as well. Registrants may even want to bring along some items they have foraged on their own. The finished projects can be hung on a wall, stood up on a table or desk, or displayed in other ways.
Copies of care instructions and other items that may be useful to the attendees of workshops can be prepared by local Stationery printers.
This introduction to the beauty of moss walls will begin at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 12. It will take place at 1980 Route 206 in Belle Mead.
