It is time for Highland Park locals to start thinking about winter, the holiday season and the start of another year. Coming soon, downtown, winter happenings include Small Business Saturday and the Tree Lighting Ceremony.
Small Business Saturday is a day set aside for all of the small businesses in downtown Highland Park to show off their wares. People throughout the community are invited to come downtown and check out the various items on display. The aim of the event is to remind people in the area to “shop small” by visiting brick-and-mortar businesses that are owned and operated by their neighbors.
Since small businesses are facing stiffer competition from online retailers, events like this have been set up to protect the high street and ensure that traditional stores remain part of our everyday lives.
That same Saturday will also be Tree Lighting Day—a time of communing with neighbors while sipping hot cocoa, singing carols, and, of course, a visit from Santa Claus. Those planning to attend the events may wish to have Posters or flyer printing done to help spread the word.
