Major show returns to Edison

A major event is returning to Edison for a full week of glittering gems, crystals, decor — and dinosaurs.

The New Jersey Mineral, Fossil, Gem & Jewelry Show will have more than 450 booths for attendees to explore. Among the listed exhibitors are importers and exporters, silversmiths, dealers in amber, experts in beads and gemstones, and dealers in fine art.

A sample of the exhibitors includes Agates Ocean, LLC; and Land of Crystals, LLC. Agates Ocean imports and exports semi-precious and precious gems and offers a wide range of products like wands and pendulums. Land of Crystals sells raw minerals as well as pendants and necklaces. There are hundreds of other, similar dealers for people to visit.

The part of the event that will probably appeal most to the younger visitors is the Dinosaur Rocks Kids Corner. In this special area, all the children who stop by will be given a free fossil, and have the chance to try metal detecting, sluicing for minerals, and digging for fossils. They will also learn about everybody's favorite: dinosaurs.

The event runs from July 22 through 26 at the NJ Expo Center in Edison. Hours are July 22, 23, and 24, from 12.00 pm until 8.00 pm; July 25, from 10.00 am until 7.00 pm, which is a later close than in previous years; and July 26, from 10.00 am until 6.00 pm. Parking is free, and flyer printing is an excellent process for creating handouts for events like this.
