Highland Park music lovers will likely want to support their local friends and neighbors, as the borough's own folk singers Kind Strangers Band will be performing this week.
This all acoustic band will once again be bringing its own form of bluegrass to its local fan base here in town. Along with the old favorite country and bluegrass classics, the band will be putting a special spin on classic pop and rock songs, introducing their own genre to the numbers.
Dan O’Connell plays guitar while his son Keith (who played at Carnegie Hall at age 15) plays fiddle leads. The bass player, Jonathan Austin provides a steady line for the group when he is not pursuing a degree in music. The traditional banjo picking and rolling will be performed by the group’s engineer, Phil Wilson. In addition, Lara Arp, Phil, Dan, and Keith will also add solos and harmonies.
The group has played throughout the area for several years, including the state house and New Jersey’s famous bluegrass site, Albert Hall. Brochure printers will surely want to get a few pictures of the group for the library’s 2016 Brochures.
