The Alexander Hamilton Awareness Society will be holding its annual Celebrate Hamilton program this week in Elizabeth. Those who live in Highland Park will likely want to make the short trip for this special event.
The goal of this program is to enable the public to better understand Alexander Hamilton, beginning with his arrival in Elizabethtown in 1772 to his adult life, for which he is known as a thinker and influential writer, the advisor to and confidant of George Washington for 22 years, and creator of the financial system in the United States.
On the first day of the two-day celebration, there will be tours at the Liberty Hall Museum and Boxwood Hall, both of which Hamilton frequently visited while he attended The Academy at Elizabethtown.
On the second day, Michael Newton, a historian, will give talks about Hamilton’s early days in Elizabethtown and sign Copies of his book. The president of the Alexander Hamilton Awareness Society, Rand Scholet, will talk about Hamilton’s years with Washington. John Rua, who performs in the Broadway show as Charles Lee, will discuss Hamilton as an artist and how his work inspired him.
The day will end at Liberty Hall with a staged reading of the play.
Celebrate Hamilton will take place July 7 and 8. The Alexander Hamilton Awareness Society might benefit from the assistance of various marketing services to promote this two-day event to those in the neighboring communities.
