Gem Show comes to Edison

A major event is returning to Edison to usher in fall.

The Fall New Jersey Gem Show will take over the New Jersey Convention & Expo Center for five days. The show is for everyone who loves earth science and is one of the largest in the area. It offers four basic categories of exhibits: fossils, jewelry, gems, and minerals.

This show has new attractions this year: the Kid Zone, and the Rubber Duck Treasure Hunt. Visitors to the Kids Zone will find craft tables, and two Dig Zones comprising two sandboxes, each 4x4 feet, “salted” with treasures and dinosaur “fossils.” Brooms and brushes will be provided. Professionals will be on hand for face painting and weaving tinsel into youngsters’ hair. An adult must be with children at all times.

Organizers of the Rubber Duck Treasure Hunt will hide ducks throughout the venue, in public spaces. Anyone who finds a duck may keep it as a souvenir or hide it again for someone else to find. If they find a gold or silver duck will win a prize and can claim it at the Show Office. Bring the duck!

The show is scheduled for October 8, 9, and 10 from 12.00 pm and 8.00 pm, and October 11 from 10.00 am until 7.00 pm; and October 12 from 10.00 am until 6.00 pm. Organizers of events like this can make it easy for everyone by using flyer printing to create a map and list of vendors.
