Several people were honored at the State Theatre Benefit Gala which was recently held at the Performing Arts Center in New Brunswick, just across the river from Highland Park.
The awards that were given were Leadership in the Arts Honoree Greater Media New Jersey, which is the official radio station of the State Theatre, patron honorees Robert and Joan Campbell of North Brunswick and corporate honoree Aon Hewitt.
The event raised $574,839 for the State Theatre, which is a not-for-profit performing arts center.
According to the station manager of Greater Media New Jersey, Dan Henrickson, the gala was more than anyone who attended ever expected. Entertainment was provided by comedian Martin Short who dressed in character as his well-known Jimmy Glick. Mayor Jim Cahill was interviewed by Short as part of the variety show.
Great food and conversation followed with various ways to raise funds for and support the State Theatre. Now the Theatre is able to carry on with its mission.
Tom Carto, the President and CEO of the State Theatre, commented that the evening was the ideal combination of philanthropy, socializing, and entertainment in support of the State Theatre.
The Theatre might consider using Stationery printers to create thank you cards that can be sent out to everyone who attended the gala and made a contribution.
