There is good news from the North Pole, even in the midst of crisis. Santa Claus will be in Edison—in an appropriately safe way.
Edison's Menlo Park Mall will be the place to find the Simon Santa Photo Experience, where Santa will be available for photos. However, there will be something new this year in addition to candy canes—masks.
In order to make the experience safe and pleasant for everyone, both Santa and his elves will wear masks at all times, and social distancing guidelines will be observed. This means no one will sit in Santa's lap this year.
The organizers are stressing that in order to make sure of a safe event for everyone, Santa himself will undergo a health screening before he takes any photos, and he and his elves will have their temperatures taken each day before they begin meeting their fans. Guests will need to make reservations, and everyone will be required to stay at least six feet apart, and use the hand sanitizers that will be placed throughout the mall.
Santa will be in Edison on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays in November, beginning November 20, and then every day from December 1 through December 24. Reservations can be made on the mall's website, and banner printing can provide appropriate signage for events like this.
