An upcoming event will celebrate all things weird, spooky, and dark - for those who dare to attend.
The Darkside New Jersey Art & Oddities Market, which will be held at Edison’s New Jersey Convention & Expo Center, features macabre and strange items and performances. The Darkside event was inspired by the Trenton Punk Rock Flea Market, which is curated, and draws vendors from over 25 states and Canada. Huffington Post called it “One of the Best Flea Markets in America,” as a celebration of hardcore and punk rock.
The market in Edison also offers oddities and unusual items such as vintage medical tools, funeral curiosities, taxidermy items, items inspired by the occult, preserved specimens, and grotesqueries and peculiar goods designed to appeal to anyone with a fondness for the dark arts (in a fun way).
In addition to the items the vendors have for sale, there will be live performances including sideshows, tattooing, live suspension, and colorful burlesque spectacles. Workshops on obscure subjects are planned, as are tarot readings, cosplay contests, which should have some interesting entries, and live music.
The spooky, macabre, and shadowy Darkside market takes place November 16. The Expo Center is at 97 Sunfield Avenue. When they organize events like this, planners will often work with a printer who will use flyer printing to create a map of the venue and list of events.
