What's in the name?
On March 17, 1870, the New Jersey Legislature took portions of Woodbridge Township and Piscataway Township and incorporated them to form a new entity to be known as Raritan Township. Then, on November 10, 1954, the township name was changed from Raritan to Edison, to honor Thomas Edison, whose main laboratory was located in Menlo Park, also in the township.
The light bulb clicks on
Edison earned over 1,093 patents for such familiar items as the alkaline storage battery, the incandescent light bulb, and the phonograph. He invented the last two in Menlo Park, with the result that Christie Street, where the lab is located, was the first street ever to be lit with electric light. The Edison laboratory is now part of the Thomas Edison Center at Menlo Park, which offers exhibits and information about Edison and his works.
Historic buildings and exhibits can benefit if caretakers work with brochure printers to create Booklets that provide information to visitors, who can then learn about the site at their own pace.
Local economic ups and downs
Central New Jersey has been a manufacturing hub for much of the eastern United States for decades. Heavy industrial operations in the township included a Ford Motor assembly plant, and a Frigidaire air-conditioner factory. When some of the heavy industry began to pull out, other corporations came in, with the result that Edison has experienced rapid growth in the 21st century.
Today, both UPS and FedEx have regional hubs here, and the corporate headquarters of the video game company Majesco Entertainment is in Edison. The township also provides warehousing facilities for a number of organizations including the Italian food importer Colavita.
For businesses to succeed, they must remain in contact with current and potential customers. One way to do this is to work with catalog printing companies, who can create Catalogs that describe products and services in detail. Catalogs are distributed via Direct Mail, and have proven to have a good rate of return.
Convention visitors
Edison also hosts the New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center, the largest such private venue in the state. The center is located within Raritan Center Business Park, which is the biggest industrial park east of the Mississippi River.
Venues like a large convention center are a great place for companies to attract attention by working with banner printing companies. Banners today can be sturdy vinyl, ordered in any size, and are suitable for outdoor and indoor use. A company can easily use them to decorate their trade show booth, or hang them on the outside of a building to call attention to special events.
Of course, companies have to present themselves in a professional manner, and printing companies can help here as well. A Stationery printing company can help create attractive letterhead, while a business card printing company can supply the cards company employees need for successful outreach efforts in modern Edison.Get a Free Quote for Direct Mail Get a Free Quote for Stationery Get a Free Quote for Banners Get a Free Quote for Booklets Get a Free Quote for Catalogs Get a Free Quote for Print
