Eat-and-run scheduled to help local services

Coming up this weekend will be the perfect event for residents of Highland Park to literally eat on the go.

The Annual Highland Park 2014 Spring Street Fair will be in full swing. This year, there will be a variety of food and drink vendors and a 5K road race with the slogan “if you run, you can eat more”.

To kick off the event, Main Street Highland Park will hold a Run-In-The–Park 5K Race. Runners will line up on Raritan Ave. Race day registration will be $30, and refreshments and T-Shirts are included in the registration fee. Kids will also receive T-shirts and refreshments after their race (sponsored by Yellow Brick Road Infant and Toddler Center). Proceeds will go to Borough of Highland Park, including its emergency service teams and library network.

The fair will also feature crafters, pony rides, a petting zoo, artists, and music. To add to the fun, a kids’ Bike Rodeo will be held on North Third Avenue, and Pino’s will be hosting a block party on North Fourth Avenue. This should be an opportunity for photographers to take a few snaps for future brochure printing.

The Spring Fair will be held Sunday, May 18, at the Park on Raritan Ave., between 2nd Street and 6th Street, in Highland Park. The race will start at 9:00 am and the fair will run from 11:30 am to 4:30 pm.
