Downtown lot offers movie classic

No matter how many times Highland Park residents may have seen the classic film ‘The Princess Bride’, they can enjoy it once again in a couple of weeks.

The Downtown Saturday Outdoor Summer Cinema will be presenting the 1987 romantic comedy, directed by Rob Reiner, out in the open air. The story is told by a doting grandfather played by Peter Faulk, narrating to his grandson, played by Fred Savage, who isunwell. The Dread Pirate Roberts (Cary Elwes) is in love with Princess Buttercup (Robin Wright), who is to be married to Prince Humperdinck. In his quest to save her from an awful fate, they encounter quirky characters such as the infamous sword-fighting Inigo Montoya (Mandy Pitinkin), Fezzik (Andre the Giant), and Miracle Max (Billy Crystal).

Organizers of the showing may wish to contract with a local Print company to have flyer printing carried out to advertise the event. Those who wish to enjoy the movie with others in an outdoor social setting are advised to bring blankets, chairs, and take-out food and drinks, and head for the Farmers’ Market lot on Raritan Avenue, Highland Park, on Saturday, July 19.

The movie will start at sunset, which is 8:23pm. There will be a short film and some cartoons for the youngsters, beginning 30 minutes before the main feature gets underway.
