Dates revealed for Edison cleanup effort

Twice every year, Edison helps residents get rid of non-recyclable household items, and locals should be aware of the upcoming dates.

Edison Township’s Fall Cleanup Program is coming up, and is different depending on residents’ locations. The commonalities are that residents need to have the recyclables at the curb before 6:00 am on the date of their collection, but no sooner than 48 hours before the pickup date.

Items accepted include mattresses and box springs if they are wrapped and sealed in plastic; tables; chairs; sofas; exterior and interior doors; metal or vinyl window frames (no glass and no more than two); and tubs, toilets, and tanks (separate from the toilet) with a limit of one. Carpets are also accepted but cannot weigh more than 50lb or be more than five feet long, and the limit is 10 rolls.

The city will not pick up televisions, metal objects like bikes and lawn mowers, hot water heaters, dryers, washers, or branches.

The Cleanup Program is tied to the recycling schedule. Residents in Sections 1 and 6, whose recycling days are Mondays, will have Clean Up materials picked up this Saturday, September 7. Those in Sections 2 and 7, whose recycling days are Tuesdays, have a Clean Up date of September 14; Sections 3 and 8, who recycle on Wednesdays, have a Clean Up date of September 21. For residents in Sections 4 and 9, who recycle Thursdays, Clean Up is October 12, and residents in Sections 5 and 10, who recycle Fridays, will have Clean Up materials picked up October 5.

To simplify the matter, flyer printing can provide scheduling information for programs like this.
