Highland Park art enthusiasts and those other people who enjoy a leisurely fall walk outdoors should get ready, for it will soon be time to attend the 10th annual Arts in the Park, a street festival that celebrates art.
Thousands of attendees are expected to pass by tents containing arts and crafts for sale that will line the street. Live entertainment, including music, dance, spoken word, and theater stages will be ongoing.
The artwork on display will be juried. Cash prizes for first, second, and third place will be awarded in the categories of Mixed Media, Graphic/Drawing, Green (art made from recycled material), Photography, Fine Crafts, Sculpture, and Painting.
Local restaurants will offer a variety of easy to carry foods. The event will also have a Kids’ Zone where children can participate in art activities. Festival participation fees run from $25 for student artists up to $200 for out-of-town vendors.
Local printing companies will have the opportunity to join other local businesses in manning information and promotional booths. Five levels of sponsorships will be available, ranging from $300 to $5,000. Local businesses can also sponsor individual local artists. The level of sponsorship can help an artist defray the cost of having a booth at the venue.
The festival will be held Sunday, September 21, from 11:30 am to 4:30 pm on Raritan Avenue, Main Street, Highland Park.
