Westfield YMCA hosts autumn clothing drive

A local community group that provides a range of services in and around Westfield will soon be holding another fundraising event, and the local area is encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to do some autumn organizing.

The Westfield Area YMCA found its June clothing drive so successful, it has made plans to host another one in the fall. All sorts of clothes and household articles will be welcome in what will be an opportunity for people to have a wardrobe clear-out.

The organizers of the drive explained that they are hoping a wide selection of goods will be dropped off, but pots, pans, electronics, books, appliances and furniture cannot be accepted. At the end of the day, the items will be sorted and then shipped by A and E Clothing Corp to be sold in second-hand stores all over the world.

Monies raised by the YMCA raises through this activity will be used to help make sure that its programs are open to anyone, regardless of their ability to pay the registration fee. A flyer printing company can prepare mailers to send out to area households to let them know how they can participate in this sort of activity.

Anyone who has a donation for the Westfield Area YMCA’s fall Clothing Drive can drop them off at 220 Clark Street on October 8. The collection station will be up and running starting at 7:30 am.
