Westfield to celebrate creator of The Addams Family

For something kooky, spooky, and altogether ooky at the end of next month, the town of Westfield will come together to celebrate the work of Charles Addams.

Westfield will hold a three-day festival to celebrate Addams, a native of the town and the creator of The Addams Family. The festival will include film screenings, exhibitions, lectures, and family-friendy programming.

For one evening, part of Downtown Westfield will transform into ‘Charlie's Ale Garden’. The beer garden will be located at Quimby and Elm Streets, and will be overseen by the Harvest Restaurant Group, who won the contract for its operation from the town council at the beginning of September. The organization will give the town up to 30% of the money raised at the beer garden that evening.

Towns that are planning events in honor of famous residents or former residents can use poster printing to spread the word.

The Harvest Restaurant group is also responsible for managing the Addams Tavern, a local pub that is named for Charles Addams. It is currently closed for renovations.

Speaking to TapInto Westfield, Dawn Mackey, a councilwoman said,

“We’re excited about having Addams Tavern as partner on this event, and we’re hoping it could possibly turn into a tradition.”

During AddamsFest, which runs October 26 to 28, the beer garden will be open on October 27 from 5:00 pm until 11:00 pm. Admission will be for adults-only.
