When people hear the word “race”, spending time in the fresh air and sunshine is often what springs to mind. A Westfield area event will soon be putting a whole new spin on a typical 5K race, however, and all ages are invited to attend and help light up a spring evening.
Both runners and walkers of all levels of ability are welcome to register for ‘Ready Set Glow’, and those who use a wheelchair or other mobility device are also encouraged to participate. Both finisher’s medals and T-Shirts printed with a graphic design prepared for the occasion will be given to everyone who takes part, and the fee is $30.
As the race’s name suggests, members of the public who have signed up for the event are asked to decorate their outfit with glow sticks and other sources of light. Properties along the route are invited to join in the celebration by decorating their home with colored lights and supporting the participants as they pass by. To thank them for joining in the spirit of the occasion, the organizers will present an award to the homeowner that they feel has gone above and beyond in their decor.
The participants in ‘Ready Set Glow’ are welcome to start arriving at Rahway City Hall on May 23, starting at 6:30 pm. Each participant will receive a T-shirt, finisher's medal, and a big thank you from the organizers of the activity.
