Westfield asked to stand behind event for veterans in need

Homelessness is an issue faced by veterans throughout Northern New Jersey, but the organizers of a Westfield area function are asking the public to get behind their efforts to make a difference. They need volunteers from the community to lend a hand, and those who do so will be showing homeless vets they matter.

GiGo, which is the organizer of Stand Down for Homeless Veterans, notes that it is one of its most important events is on the agenda for this October. Former service members from all over North Jersey are welcome to take advantage of the services that will be on offer for them throughout the day, and there will be health screenings, clothing and food distribution and other support..

Helping hands are needed to make sure the effort will be a success, and the planners of Stand Down noted they hope at least 100 people will sign up. There are many tasks to perform ranging from handing out supplies to clean up and even providing some extra assistance to any veterans that are ill, elderly or disabled.

The check in for volunteers for the activity starts at 6:00 am, and the event itself will begin at 8:00 am. T-Shirts, lanyards, name badges and many other Promotional Products for this sort of function are all readily available at a local Print shop.

This year’s Stand Down for Homeless Veterans has been scheduled for October 12th. It is set to be held in Newark’s JFK Recreation Center.
