May is designated as the Month of Older Americans, and a Westfield area workshop series has been designed to help its seniors live their best lives.
Shaping Eastern Union County and the Gateway Family YMCA will be welcoming older adults for a schedule of activities that will run throughout the month, and the topics on the agenda will touch on everything from living with a chronic illness to getting social for seniors. Both virtual and in-person programming has been planned, and special workshops will be taking place on May 3, 17, and 31.
The online sessions will explore an assortment of subjects such as aging well, self-care for caregivers, and adapting to the cognitive changes that can go along with aging. The YMCA will also be participating in National Senior Health and Fitness Day, which will showcase that it is never too late to learn good health habits.
The release prepared for the month noted that the virtual programming will use the Zoom platform. Promotional Products for an activity – such as cloth shopping Totes, lanyards, and custom Drinkware printed with its Logo Design – can all be sourced from a local printer.
The Gateway Family YMCA will be celebrating Older Americans Month from May 1 until May 31. A schedule of the various workshops and other activities is available on the organization’s website.
