A Clark area class will give everyone the inside scoop on how they can get growing, even if they do not have a backyard or garden to call their own.
Ron Gillis will be sharing his expertise when it comes to growing a variety of vegetables in small spaces. He has several years of experience in doing so himself, and he will explain how easy and rewarding it can be.
The session will introduce various species and cultivars that are suitable for growing in containers, and various sorts of pots, grow Bags, and other receptacles will be discussed. Soil choice, fertilizers, and other amendments will be reviewed, and pest control will be addressed as well. To help them hit the ground running, each participant will go home with a starter’s kit of seeds, a pot and saucer, as well as soil.
Home horticulture can be a fun and rewarding hobby. Workshops can help those who take part hit the ground running with their own garden, and learning materials for an event can be prepared by area Print shops.
This introduction to the joys of growing fresh vegetables at home will begin at 10:30 am on Saturday, March 23. The venue can be found at 55 Kingsley Street in West Orange. Tickets start at $28.52 via Eventbrite.
