Stratham course to offer grounding in equine first aid

An upcoming Stratham course will give equine owners skills they can call on to help their own horse in an emergency, celebrating the strong human-horse connection.

The New Hampshire SPCA will be running its Equine Health and Emergency First Aid Training Course and Certification, and those who feel it may be helpful to them are encouraged to register. It is being presented to the community courtesy of HH Riders Trail and Riding Club, and it will run for five hours.

Advanced registration is required to participate in the learning. A variety of topics will be covered, and these include injury prevention, how to take vital Signs, how to recognize pain in a horse, and pain relief methods. A wide range of illnesses and injuries will be discussed, and the learners will also find out what information they can collect that may be useful to their vet in an emergency.

At the end of the workshop, the students will go home with a first aid manual. Learning materials for a class like this may be printed and bound by local printing services companies.

The New Hampshire SPCA offices, which can be found at 104 Portsmouth Avenue, has made arrangements to offer this class on the morning of Sunday, October 23. It will start at 10:00 am sharp.
