The New Hampshire SPCA is offering a five-week course designed to help dogs achieve the American Kennel Club’s (AKC) Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification. Trainer Nadine Perry will lead it.
The CGC certification is a nationally recognized program that evaluates dogs for good behavior in public as well as readiness for service or therapy dog work. The course includes preparation for the official CGC test, which will be administered during the final class.
The class will cost 135. This fee will cover the test, and training on public manners, social interactions, and basic obedience.
Prospective participants must have completed the Manners 2 course or received instructor approval. This program is not suitable for reactive or aggressive dogs, and owners of such pets are encouraged to explore alternative classes or contact behavior specialists at the SPCA.
All enrolled dogs must have up-to-date vaccinations, including core vaccines for rabies and distemper. Vaccination records must be submitted before the first class.
The SPCA emphasizes safety, requiring all attendees to acknowledge potential risks associated with dog training. Participants also grant permission for media use of photos taken during class.
Registration policies and weather-related updates can be obtained by contacting the SPCA. Attendees can also visit the NHSPCA or call 603-772-2921.
Brochure printing may be used to provide attendees with different dates and times for courses such as this one.
The program begins January 5th and will run until February 2nd, with weekly one-hour sessions held in the training room at the SPCA facility, 104 Portsmouth Ave, Stratham, New Hampshire.
