Art classes educate and empower Kernersville creatives

Kernersville residents who are looking to hone their artistic skills and learn new knowledge are in luck, as a local studio has announced an adult art class.

The Not Your High School Art Class: Quarter 2 has an official date on the calendar for July, giving individuals within the Kernersville area the opportunity to build the class into their schedule. Rather than being a paint-and-sip course, enrollees will learn real skills that students can use throughout their lives to further their creative pursuits.

The Quarter 2 class will focus on Linoleum Printmaking. In the class, students will learn the differences between positive and negative space, the basic techniques of linoleum-style carving, and the process of creating their own unique stamp. Impressions made from poster printing can improve the reach of events like this within the community, attracting more participants while promoting the event’s host.

Students will also enjoy a guided practice session to get a better feel for the carving process by practicing on a Pink Pearl eraser. The final project will involve creating the hand-carved stamp prints, which students can take home to give to friends and family. All supplies are included.

The class will be hosted by The Open Studio in Kernersville, and is set for Sunday, July 12th, from 1:00 to 2:30 PM. Tickets can be reserved online for $87.41 per student.
