An early 2026 event is giving Huntersville residents a fun way to mark the start of a new calendar year while also exploring the local area.
The Annual First Footin’, a celebration from Historic Rural Hill, follows a tradition from the Scottish New Year, known as Hogmanay. This ritual aims to bring participants good fortune, good health, and good crops for the year ahead.
For this event, attendees will go on a 2.5-mile trek through trails, historic sites, and farms. At several points along the path, everyone will take a few moments to pause and learn about exciting local history, as well as some folklore. The event is a good opportunity to get started on the resolutions many make to improve their activity levels and health. The walk can also be used to socialize with fellow community members.
After the walk, guests will participate in the Stone Soup Blessing and Gathering. This is a luncheon that represents another traditional Scottish experience.
Tickets are available through Eventbrite. The price per person is $6.76, including site fees. Flyer printing is a common promotion technique for many experiences with historical roots.
The Huntersville activity is scheduled for between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm on New Year’s Day. It will be held at Historic Rural Hill, which is at 4431 Neck Road in Huntersville.
