After attending a workshop on how to start a reuse business, Paige Cox was recently inspired to start one of her own.
As Co-Founder and Director, Cox opened Reconsidered Goods, an 8,000 square foot business made up entirely of donated goods.
Since its opening, the store has been the destination for professionals like teachers who are able to obtain items for classrooms at a minimal cost. The teachers have also contacted the store in hopes of using the location as a field trip for students to educate them on the endless possibilities of recycling everyday items like Flyers and drink cans.
The donated items are organized neatly, making them easy to find for shoppers. Items include ribbons, beads, and fabric as well as records and cassette tapes. Cox and the staff at Reconsidered Goods help educate consumers on the variety of uses for these materials. For example, donated magazines can be purchased as birthday gifts to show recipients what was taking place the year of their birth.
Artists are flocking to the store as they can obtain materials they need, and many are finding items to store their crafts as well. Reusing these items reduces landfill, supplies goods at a low cost, and educates the public on the many options for items that previously were discarded.
The store is located at 2805 Patterson Street and is open Wednesday through Sunday.
