Mogul continues investment in Greensboro business

Wilderness Systems cofounder and developer Andy Zimmerman has already invested a lot in Greensboro, NC, but according to him, he’s far from finished.

With his recent purchase of The Lotus Club on East Lewis Street, which he plans to turn into an upscale restaurant or music venue, he hopes to effect a dramatic change in a formerly run-down part of the city.

Zimmerman, a native of New Jersey, describes himself as “not a traditional learner”, but believes his atypical approach to problem solving, combined with his love for the outdoor and tendency to push his own limits, may actually be the secret to the man’s success. Having sold his stake in Wilderness Systems, he has spent millions of dollars buying and remodeling buildings and turning them into buzzworthy destinations.

These remodels include HQ Greensboro, a for-profit office space that allows companies to lease small areas for small amounts of time, or simply meet and collaborate. Next door is another business-related collaborative in the form of a nonprofit called The Forge.

Zimmerman predicts big changes in the look of the city over the next year and a half, adding that it may soon become barely recognizable from its former self. No doubt leaflet and flyer printing will be used to keep residents abreast with the alterations going on in their vicinity.
